Hibla.com: Gypsy Fever - @ Little Blue Ball International Summer Party
Katarina Gadjo, the founding member of GF, grew up in Modosh - a small Serbian village that has been swaying to the heterophonic heat of the local Roma musicians for generations. There, as the old saying goes, music is used to 'beat sorrow into celebration'. Though born of their sorrows, the celebratory nature of the music defies the difficult and marginal existence of many Gypsy-Roma. With this music - that exists only in the air and the blood - Katarina arrived in London via the ashrams of India, found musical comrades from from Hungary (Peter - Bass), Czech Republic (Ondrej - Drums), Italy (Daniela -- vocals) and the UK (Rich -- Guitar and Ben - Clarinet/Sax), and so began the twisting into existence of Gypsy Fever, the band that Milosevic forgot!
Katarina Gadjo - Vocals
Rich Collinski - Guitar
Peter Bakaja - Bass
Ben Sellers - Clarinet & Sax
Ondrej Vomacka - Drums
Daniela D'Alessio - Backing vocals

Darius Thompson - Violin
Oshan 'Danger' Mahony - Guitar
- Bass Darbouka/Vocals
Maxim Shchedrovitzki - Oud, Bass
Miroslav Morski - Electric Guitar
Pavlos Mavromatakis - Cajon/Vocals/Octave Mandola
Milen Nae - Vocals
The Turbans is an international musical collective travelling the world on a quest to discover and create great music, starting in Nepal in 2009 when classical violinist Darius Luke Thompson and guitarist Oshan Mahony played together for the first time in Kathmandu. They travelled by bicycle to India where they formed a band that has played music all the way through Pakistan, India, Turkey, Greece, Poland, Spain and the UK for the last three years.
It has been an amazing journey and this summer the band took the UK festival scene by storm, with a mix of traditional balkan, klezmer, turkish, celtic and greek traditional folk sounds. Their reputation as radical performers of real musical substance and prodigious energy is growing and since basing their core in London and inviting exciting international musicians to join them from Israel, Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria they have delighted thousands with their near middle eastern musical melange of dancing entrancement.

Friday the 13th is When Two well known local street bands meet.
https://www.facebook.com/events/45862...
I think it might be Magick.
A scintillating contest of strength, stamina and musical prowess between the two greatest bands on the London folk scene, A straight fight with no holds barred.
The calm before the storm has passed, the hype and bluster about who is best and worst is over, the stakes are high and now only actions count and for the underdogs there is nowhere to hide.
Whose side are you on?
The Turbans; pioneering multi-ethnic musical collective of turbo-charged Balkan and near-eastern fury, will assault your senses of sound and vision with their trademark romp of high energy gypsy Turkish klezmer abandon.
The John Langan band; stalwart three piece fusion bomb power-house of gritty and ripped Celtic strongmen slam the gauntlet down hard with their polished and precision-crafted mix of highland stomp and gypsy mash up.
Now it's up to you to decide who will prevail.
The Turbans versus The John Langan Band at Netil OOO, an all night bacchanalean extravaganza of the senses! With support from Rum Buffalo and Theo Bard and hosted by Tom Baker. Live Dj battle Between Dr. Malaka and Dj CousCous with DJs Chris Tofu and Sinbad. ***The Turbans***
The Turbans is an international musical collective bringing together exciting music from traditional near-eastern and eastern-European styles and their own compositions, to create a modern and energetic performance with reverence for its ancient roots.
Growing from the intertwining paths of many talented musicians travelling the world, this extraordinary project has grown in a few years from very humble beginnings, into a progressive name on the London music scene. It's members have gathered from countries such as Turkey, Bulgaria, Israel, Italy, Greece and England to perform in concerts and festivals around the UK, Turkey, India and Europe.
The Turbans is independent and run by the musicians themselves, bringing music to the public, young and old alike, mixing vibrant spontaneity and authenticity with multi-genre instrumental and vocal excellence.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVBlor...
***The John Langan Band***
High energy, unhinged, and musically extravagant, taking traditional acoustic idioms and delivering with punk abandonment and virtuosic flare. A dynamic three piece offering a unique sound emerging from Celtic, Gypsy Swing, Roma and Flamenco and tuned in savvy.
Wrapping pan European traditional acoustic music with infectious grooves, epic, pounding, sing along, punch the air anthems to intricately arranged instrumentals.
Challenging the limitations of what people might expect acoustic instruments to sound like, the use of bowed harmonics between fiddle and bass can be as menacing and eerie as it can be psychedelic and mesmerising.
Percussion provided by the front man Langan, whilst singing and driving the rhythm guitar, he somehow co-ordinates the operating of a cajon and a tambourine with his feet bringing the driving, swinging groove of the rhythm guitar together with his foot percussion resulting in an impressively tight band sound with a tempo that is free to go anywhere.
