Uncle Sams Last Night: Beverly the maestro of ceremonies had sold her famous Jazz venue Uncle Sams on the Kingsland Road in Dalston. The images are of the last night 14th October 1907. Some of the musicians that played: Brian Edwards, Alan Weeks, Shaney, and Carl Rashid on bass; then Quentin Collins trpt, Zhenya Strigalev sax Steve Pretty trpt, and George Bird on drums We were all sad, and more than one including me had a tear in the corner of their eyes. We can only hope that Sam plays it again.

They gathered in Dalston Hackney in memory of The Wall Street Crash of 1929 and flapper danced. They drank from tea cups. Because of the Prohibition
alcohol was forbidden. Some looked for jobs and in hope hung the applications to all from their necks.
My SLR camera had been stolen. I reverted to my old Minolta A1.

Beneath the banner on the cobble stones in front of the Victory Public House, the people gatherer to dance and sing. Hibla.com: Nando, Fernando Gomez, Drummer at Passing Clouds In loving memory of *Fernando Gomez*, the drummer who taught classes at Passing Clouds for many months and was a central feature at the legendary Sunday Jam Sessions at Passing Clouds. Nando was much loved by many. He was also known both for his skill in making and tuning drums and for his drumming tuition at many schools and colleges. Nando abruptly passed away from anthrax poisoning a week ago leaving his wife and four small children. The event was to celebrate Nando's life and music. The evening was hosted by Planetman and the Internationalz and featured many of the internationally acclaimed musicians who played with Nando at the Sunday Jam Sessions including Kodjovi Kush and Adesose Wallace.

Dominique, who resides in France, is of Sicilian origin and was raised by his gypsy stepfather, a heritage that would influence his musicality in later years. He played both guitar and bass for a period of time, and after hearing the infamous Jaco Pastorius in 1979 decides to focus strictly on the bass, and not long after starts finding the unique voice he becomes very well known for. Being a self taught musician, he immediately started developing his own style of playing, and by the early 80's had refined his signature right hand approach. It began by using the thumb, index, and middle finger instead of the traditional two finger approach, and that move gave birth to the four finger technique which is used as a secondary technique by many of the top players in the world. In addition to that, he also enhanced this technique by using a pedal steel guitar pick on his thumb and index finger, and carved out a unique and distinctive sound on the instrument.

The Boxettes led by phenomenally talented female beatboxer, Bellatrix, the headlining all-female a capella vocal group explore
extended vocal techniques hitched to jazz, hip-hop and soul sensibilities, with extraordinary results. The Boxettes are a female vocal quintet who experiment with extended vocal
techniques beyond what is expected of the human, let alone the female voice.
Each from a variety of musical backgrounds and styles, the Boxettes were brought
together in 2007 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (one of the top
music colleges in Europe) where they all study jazz. This melting pot of five
such individual and contrasting voices has formed an exquisite new sound, both
versatile and original.
The Boxettes show is an exciting concoction of soulful grooves and dirty beats
laced with jazz and maybe even a classical intention. Theyll make you wanna get
down to their groove, theyll touch you with delicate, evocative melodies and
theyll make you listen hard whilst their intense and advanced study allows them
to explore rhythm and harmony in depth and with freedom. Boxette Bellatrx has
recently been crowned the female WORLD CHAMPION... so there! The South London Press recently described Alyusha as having "exquisite vocals" after a fantastic gig at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
She studies Jazz and Classical Voice at the Guildhall School of Music.
She sings in the all female vocal percussion group called The Boxettes, who have performed at Ministry of Sound, The Roundhouse, and in France to name a couple.
Alyusha also sings with Shlomo and the Vocal Orchestra who performed at Glastonbury, WOMAD, Greenbelt & Latitude over the summer, they are also often seen performing at the south bank venues.
She has recently worked with Achilles, which is an up and coming new band and wrote the above song with them.
Her own songwriting is on standby for a bit while she heavily involves her self with her studies and the above bands she sing with...
