 There is a strange daunce performed. The pumpkin smashing. 

Illuminated pumpkins are used to ward off witches and ghouls. They don't. Its a myth. The smashed pumpkin can be seen at the dauncer's feet.  

 The pumpkin well smashed others begin to join in.
