The Electric Astrolabe shows the sky at 8:30 in the morning in Baalbek at the solstice 2005. The "morning star" is Mercury Jupiter is at the Midheaven and occupies the place the sun will be at midday.  The twin bright stars of the constellation of the Goat, now because of the precession of the equinoxes  in the  sign  of Sagittarius. The Moon  preceded by Saturn will set soon Venus will be the" evening star"

We can see from Babylonian records that ancient astronomers were fully capable of  recognizing and recording detailed astronomical facts. Some of their records have survived.
